A newly purchased 560SEC

Benzgeist introduces Johnny as a newly purchased 1988 Mercedes 560SEC and links a separate blog for the road-trip story. The forum updates present the beginning of an ownership and restoration project, rather than a finished restoration.

Two hours beneath the windscreen

In a later update, the owner describes starting to clean the neglected engine compartment. Debris had accumulated in its creases and tight spaces, while dressing residue coated the black panel below the windscreen. A planned six-hour session became about two hours, most of it spent on that panel. The accompanying engine-bay photograph belongs to this update; it should not be presented as a complete before-and-after set or a validated cleaning procedure.

An unfinished project and a later starting question

The same update reports replacing a used battery that had become a source of annoyance, and promises to describe the mechanical work already carried out. Months later, Benzgeist asks why recent starts require unusually long cranking. No cause or repair result is given in these forum posts, so the earlier battery replacement cannot be treated as a confirmed solution to the later symptom.
