A question about taking a Turbo to the track

Rennlist member thekid96 asked who takes a 997 Turbo to the track. Calspeed replied with his own 997.1 Turbo experience and these two photographs; the other contributors describe separate cars.

Number 82, at rest and at speed

The paddock front three-quarter view shows the black coupe’s silver bonnet accents, door number 82 and yellow fog lights. The second image brings the same visual details into a head-on track view. Calspeed’s paired post and the matching bodywork and markings support identifying the two images as the same car; the white Porsche behind it in the paddock is a separate vehicle.

Calspeed’s track experience

Calspeed says he enjoys the 997.1 Turbo on track three to five times a year. He describes progressively adding parts including Bilstein B16 coilovers and Eibach anti-roll bars to his 2008 911, with better control and quicker laps in his experience. He also says he may retire the Turbo from track use because its value makes the risk difficult to accept. These are his experiences and considerations, without a measured performance comparison or a claim that he had already stopped.
