R107 280SL: stopped odometer and a member’s gear photograph
A 1985 280SL Euro owner asks about a stopped odometer; a member supplies a damaged-gear example, while a later R129 digital-display question remains a separate case.

An odometer that stopped while the speedometer worked
Skyraider asked for an experienced instrument repairer after the odometer in a 1985 280SL Euro stopped counting while the speedometer continued to work. The owner preferred a specialist with the equipment and experience to do the job. No diagnosis or completed repair to that car is reported in this discussion.
A later digital-odometer question concerns a different car
Later, kwelch02 described a 1996 SL500 whose digital total-mileage display had returned to zeros and stopped advancing, although its speedometer and trip counter worked. AlterSchinken directed that question to the R129 forum. That separate digital-instrument symptom does not establish the same gear failure as the R107 discussion.

A member’s own odometer gear photograph
AlterSchinken shared a photograph of their own odometer and said the gear meshing with the small pinion had lost a couple of teeth. They suggested a gear fault as a possible explanation and described replacement as tedious. This is a separate member’s photographed example, not proof of the fault inside Skyraider’s instrument. The thread does not establish a replacement-gear specification, compatibility or a complete removal and repair procedure.
