Access behind the dashboard

jsargent99 describes the replacement handle as sliding inside a frame behind the dashboard, positioned by a plastic retaining clip. The account identifies a screw at the left end of the dashboard, two screws partly obscured by the handle, three small screws below the instrument cluster and 8 mm fasteners holding the lower trim. These are the access points described for the author’s car.

Cable removal and reconnection

With the assembly pulled into view, the author describes a cable connection resembling a bicycle brake cable. Miniature locking pliers were used to hold the cable forward while releasing the broken handle. Reassembly was awkward because the cable had to be reattached with the assembly loosely back inside the dashboard. The post does not provide a part number, tightening torque or a later functional follow-up.
