FVD exhaust installation and a later drone report on a 997.1 Turbo

A garage installation with a brother

Bskyoon describes receiving an FVD exhaust earlier than expected and choosing to fit it with a brother rather than wait for a shop appointment. The account reports about four to five hours of work and suggests that a 13 mm ratcheting wrench would have saved time. The photographs show the black Turbo with exhaust components laid out behind it, followed by a rear view after assembly. This is an owner’s installation account, not a complete removal, tightening or support procedure.

The version described in the discussion

In a follow-up, Bskyoon identifies the system as the Brombacher sound version with 200-cell catalysts and describes the first test drive enthusiastically. The thread does not independently verify emissions approval, performance gains or compatibility with other cars. Later comments about quieter FVD or modified original systems describe different configurations and do not establish how this particular system sounds.

The later report: audible drone above 2,000 rpm

After about two months and 700 miles, Bskyoon reports no problems or check-engine light, but explicitly disputes the claim that there is no drone: the owner hears it under throttle above 2,000 rpm. Bskyoon says it is personally enjoyable rather than unbearable. Both the absence of a warning light and the assessment of sound are that owner’s experience over the stated period, not a guarantee for another car.
