BMW S65 throttle actuator replacement
W/// described replacing a throttle actuator after limp mode and fault code 2B21. The account records access beneath the intake plenum and the owner’s initial result. Later replies describe separate vehicles and different findings.

Access beneath the intake plenum
W/// described removing the intake plenum and moving the wiring-harness box aside to replace an actuator. He warned about tight access and fragile plastic clips. The photograph shows the engine bay at the beginning of the account, before plenum removal.
The owner’s initial result
The owner reported clearing the SES light with a Bavarian Technic tool and said the result was satisfactory so far. This is his initial report; it does not establish long-term durability or a remedy for every limp-mode fault. Separately, mkoesel reported that limp mode disappeared after replacement while the CEL initially remained; he later said the CEL went out on its own. These different reports do not establish a universal reset requirement.
Idle control and throttle control
A reply suggested that the idle and throttle actuators might be the same part. jcolley disputed that identification and described them as separate parts. The exchange does not establish interchangeability.

A separate owner’s wiring finding
Damon 808 State initially reported that Bank 1 actuator replacement had not resolved his fault. In a later update, he attributed a Bank 2 position error to a broken connector clip and wiring that rubbed when the throttle opened fully. He reported replacing the harness and securing it with cable ties. This was another vehicle, not W///’s follow-up.
